Heart Day Re-Cap

A re-cap of my Valentine's Day evening would look like this:
  • Brian picks me up at work at 5pm.
  • He drives me to my mysterious surprise dinner reservation, and its at Red Stripe!
  • The restaurant was empty when we first sat down, and within the half hour it got SUPER packed. I started with a bowl of roasted tomato soup (super good!) and for dinner I ate the lavender chicken and Brian had the coq au vin. I had a merlot and Brian had a beer. Our drinks and all our food came in perfect timing, but once we got our meals we were kinda forgotten about. We wanted to order dessert (they had a heart shaped chocolate cake served with a raspberry sorbet!!) but by the time the waiter actually gave us the dessert menus and finally came back (all of which took forever) we realized we just didn't have the time to order the dessert we wanted! It was 7pm and we had to get to Somerville!
  • We got some hot chocolate at the Starbucks across the street so we had something warm to drink for the ride up to my next Valentine's surprise.
  • We drive up to Somerville, MA to go to the Somerville Theatre where the Magnetic Fields are playing!!!! Brian got amazing seats, not very far from the stage. During the wonderfully acoustic mellow performance Claudia and Steven joked about how the songs were so depressing and (to quote Claudia) "I bet you all thought it would be so sweet to take your loved one to see the Magnetic Fields on Valentine's. Instead, you're all probably going to go home and break up and one of you will be stuck out in the cold". haha. A bit dramatic, but it was humorous to see a band play songs of love and loss on Valentine's. Claudia and Steven joked back and forth and the whole set seemed very intimate (with how the band interacted with each other and the audience). It was an absolutely amazing Valentine's day gift!
  • We then drove home and I fell asleep in the car.
So there's the recap. It was both fun and memorable. :)
